  • Irwin: John Garth's Diary (3rd: Jan. 12, 4th: Dec. 5). Also, Treherne (p. 187) mentions “The ship's pursor, Bob Irwin.” (4th)
  • Jensen: Listed in a Los Angeles Times report dated Dec. 29, 1933.
  • Johnson: Listed by Fraser, but no voyage information given (3rd & 5th). Treherne (p. 146) mentions the ship “had onboard a Hollywood professional [film-maker], Emory Johnson.” (3rd).

  • Kraft: “Dr. Kraft, our surgeon” in John Garth's Diary (4th: Dec. 3). Kraft's first name given as “Rollan” in April & May, 1935 issues of Real Detective Magazine—a more-reliable source has not yet been found to verify this. Fraser lists an “R. W. Craft” as ship's doctor.
  • Marsh: “Hermann Marsh, violinist” in Sam T. Clover's A Pioneer Heritage (1st). Also mentioned in Banning's General Report (2nd).
  • Meredith, De Witt: Not mentioned in any account, but he appears in group photo in El Telégrafo (Guayaquil), February 18, 1938.
  • Merrick, Hugh: Identified in Hancock Expedition photo, Jan. 24 (7th).
  • Morgan Sisters: Clover mentions that in Panama, another ship “ … brought two passengers for the Velero in Mrs. Philip Morgan and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Don Morgan.” Presumably they accompanied the ship on its return to the United States (1st). Philip Morgan and another man are identified as “two trusty lieutenants in the big organization which handles Captain Hancock's many interests,” but there is no evidence that Mr. Morgan ever participated in a Velero III voyage. John Garth's Diary mentions Helen & Eleanor; Dec. 6 & 16, respectively (4th).
  • Palmer: Unless he was present on a pre-Velero III voyage, his statement that third Velero III voyage was his own third time with Hancock would indicate he was present on 2nd voyage too.
  • Salisbury: Listed in a Los Angeles Times report dated Dec. 29, 1933.
  • Smith, Erwin: Identified in Hancock Expedition photo, Jan. 24 (7th).
  • Smith, Sterling: “Sterling Smith, flautist” in Sam T. Clover's A Pioneer Heritage (1st). Also in Banning's General Report (2nd).
  • Stone, Jim: John Garth's Diary, Jan 17; Also, Stone Brothers, Jan. 20 (1st). “George C. [sic, E.] Stone and ‘Jimmie’ Stone were the official photographers” according to Sam T. Clover's A Pioneer Heritage (p. 182).
  • Swett: John Garth's Diary (1st: Jan. 3, 2nd: Jan. 26, 3rd: Jan. 12, 4th: Dec. 8); unidentified 1938 newspaper clipping “ … has accompanied Capt. Hancock on all of his previous scientific cruises.” (5th, 6th, 7th). His participation in subsequent voyages is assumed but unverified pending further research.
  • Swett, Jane(?): “Mrs. Swett” in John Garth's Diary, (1st: Jan 14, 4th: Dec. 5). Perkins refers to “Mrs. S.” and also to a “Jane” who is otherwise unidentified.
  • Wegeforth: Listed by Fraser, aboard for return from Trinidad only (8th).
  • Williams: Listed by Fraser, but no voyage information given.
  • Wartsbaugh: “Wurtzburg” in John Garth's Diary (1st: Jan. 3). But “Captain Daniel Wilbert Wartsbaugh, United States Navy, retired” in Sam T. Clover's A Pioneer Heritage (p. 185).
  • Young, Paul: Not mentioned in any account, but a report in the San Diego Evening Tribune, March 12, 1938, lists a “Paul Young of New York, formerly of Glendale.”
